We just returned from Thanksgiving Day weekend in Chicago.
The highlights were being with our friends, Edie and Paul in Downer’s Grove; bringing our daughter Brooks back to Kansas City after a four-month stay there; and visiting the fabulous Art Institute of Chicago.
Here, for your back-to-work-day enjoyment, are some of the visual highlights of our visit.

What a nice family!
I love Chicago, nice pics!
Thanks, Chuck. Regrettably, we only had a few hours downtown. I would like to have spent a couple of days there.
falicitous?
Nope…Look it up.
Love it, Jim – thanks for sharing – here’s to a joyous holiday season from our house to yours!
Thanks, Lisa. Meet me at 127th and Pflumm.
Fitz! No pics of Portillo’s?
God Bless Ya Fitz! Nothing like Portillo’s or Buona Beef in a pinch to warm a man’s mind, body and soul. Thanks!
To tell you the truth, Smartman, I’d never heard of Portillo’s. I really don’t get that many opportunities to hang in Chicago. But the next time I’m there, to Portillo’s I go!
Fitz, Portillo’s is to Chicago what Gates and Bryants are to KC. Not the healthiest place to eat but the dogs, ribs and Italian beef are BIBLICALLY good. The downtown location is as good of place to people watch as Central Park or Venice Beach.
I didn’t know Portillo’s, either, but the introduction in the book Beyond the Phog by Jason King (which I won as a door prize at last night’s KCPress Holiday bash) begins with an interivew of Sherron Collins at Portillo’s.
smartman is right.
I ate there in July. Yummy!!
Chicago is great.
We go to Chicago and stay downtown just so we can go to the Art Museum. You can spend days in there. And, the beauty of it is that we also have a very nice art museum in Kansas City. If you’ve never been there, you have missed a fantastic opportunity.
